Whether it be cigar-box banjos, kinetic wind spinners or oil on canvas, art filled downtown Green Bay Sunday, the final day of the 32nd annual Artstreet event.Ninety-degree August temperatures were offset by strong breezes throughout the day, at times a mixed blessing.We all hate the wind really bad because it destroys our canopies, said Laura Anderson, a maker of fine jewelry from Oklahoma City, where they know about wind. But it feels really good because its so hot. 

Hot temperature or not, a good crowd gathered for the days 10 a.m. start, and turnout remained strong until artists packed up their creations and decamped to the 17 states from whence they came.Two hundred artists, including, jewelers, painters, ceramic artists, metal smiths, dancers and more were in attendance. Many, like nature photographer Tom Lazar of Milwaukee, were Artstreet veterans. A smaller number, like kinetic wind spinner artist Matt Hanson of Mercer, were first-timers.Its been a good weekend, Hanson said. Weve got the whole family. My mother usually watches the kids, but they wanted to see Lambeau Field. 

Speaking of the Green Bay Packers, there was speculation by some artists that the teams preseason home game Friday added to the turnout because hotels were requiring two-night stays. Certainly the game did not take away from an Artstreet first this year, a Friday night preview that included 73 of the 200 exhibitors. 

It was a really nice opportunity for people to come out when its not so crowded, Quigley said. We did have a lot of visitors that were in town for the Packers game who came before or after. Also we met up with some people who had husbands or family members at the game and the other half of the group came to Artstreet. 

Joan and Doug Brylski of Suamico started their visit Sunday at a photographers booth.Hes looking at photography, and more specifically how things are framed, Joan Brylski said. Ill probably end up buying some jewelry. 

Jewelry-maker Larura Anderson thought business was slower than last year, though steady throughout the weekend. Cigar-box banjos and guitars by Rose Instruments of Neenah caught Cindy Bittners attention. Lace also provided a touch of classic femininity to the Vivienne collection.
